WMB-ROI and The Lunz Group Announce Merger
It’s with great excitement and enthusiasm that we inform you that WMB-ROI has announced its merger with The Lunz Group to create one of the premier architectural and interior design firms in the region. This combination, built on our two companies’ strengths and proud histories, will create the largest architecture firm in Polk County, spanning across central Florida throughout the I-4 corridor.
A Sustainable Future
Since 1980, WMB-ROI’s team has been providing design solutions across residential, commercial and industrial sectors throughout Central Florida and across the nation. Led by Steve
Boyington, CEO, and Mike Murphy, COO, the firm was known for its solutions-driven, return-on-investment focus in the services provided to clients. Recognizing the opportunity to align goals and sustain the growth of the companies, the decision was made that the firms would merge to become The Lunz Group, retaining the leadership of Steve and Mike, WMB’s two office locations (in Lakeland and Melbourne, FL), and expand our reach throughout the central Florida region.
Catapulting to a Regional Firm
The idea of merging the two firms happened during their collaboration on a project. The Lakeland Economic Development Council (LEDC) had started a co-working/entrepreneur incubator, called Catapult, in 2013. Due to its great success and community support, Catapult quickly outgrew its size and was looking to expand. The LEDC assembled a team of three architecture firms to design the new Catapult 2.0: an all-in-one launch pad for emerging entrepreneurs.

The vision would come to life within the iconic 1920’s Lakeland Cash Feed building in downtown Lakeland. However, Hurricane Irma arrived in 2017, decimating the Cash Feed Building beyond repair and putting the team back at square one. Through a collaborative effort, the vision of Catapult 3.0 was born: a new 40,000 square-foot community co-working space and entrepreneurship center that will open in downtown Lakeland late 2019. WMB-ROI would provide design for the building shell, while The Lunz Group would provide interior design. It was during our work on the project that our teams began to recognize how we could benefit the other.
