Overview:

WMB-ROI (Architecture) is an established and rapidly-growing architectural firm in Downtown Lakeland. This position is offered to a diverse and motivated individual who is comfortable in a team environment and has a degree in architecture, or related experience. WMB-ROI aspires to provide a challenging and inspiring workplace for such a candidate in a position that will require well-honed written/ verbal/visual communication skills, a positive attitude, and superior creative intuition.

Our firm focuses on working closely with clients which include private developers, facilities management teams, and entrepreneurs who expect efficient, attentive, and highly personalized service. As such, we expect a prospective team member to display acute attention to detail, strong foresight, and a deep understanding of synergistic teamwork.

Desired Skills & Qualifications:

  • Under graduate or Graduate Degree in Architecture
  • Knowledge of the design process, from concept through construction, with an understanding of different methods of project delivery
  • Experience with AIA contracts (not required)
  • Experience with organizing project meetings and coordination with the architectural team, clients, consultants, and contractors
  • Experience with conceptual site planning and building design through sketching, 2D drawings and 3D modeling
  • AutoCAD experience (minimum of 3 years)
  • Construction Documents (production phase) experience
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects concurrently
  • Clear written/verbal/visual communication skills, with the ability to communicate in a manner that is professional and approachable
  • Ability to perform quality assurance (QA) review of all portions of a project
  • Familiarity with Florida Building Codes, accessibility codes, fire & life safety codes
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Proficiency with Autodesk Revit and Trimble Sketchup

Travel Expectations:

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Proficient knowledge of AutoCAD and the ability to produce construction documents on a multitude of civil site related projects
  • Exercise judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives
  • Review and apply local codes and standards to construction documents
  • Review reports, maps, drawings, test and other topographical and geologic data to plan and design projects
  • Perform field work at project sites both during design and through construction
  • Work under supervision of a project manager and civil engineer

M I N I M U M   R E Q U I R E M E N T S :

  • High School Diploma required
  • Minimum 5 years experience working as a Civil Designer under direct supervision of a Professional Civil Engineer
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and ability to produce construction drawings and documents with minimal oversight for review by a licensed professional civil engineer
  • Ability to work independently, with minimal to moderate oversight from a licensed professional civil engineer
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Powerpoint)
  • Employee must be a US citizen

  • Capable of using civil engineering specific calculations software (examples include ICPR, WaterCAD, StormCAD, etc.)

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Proficient knowledge of AutoCAD and the ability to produce construction documents on a multitude of structural engineering related projects including plans, specifications, details and sections
  • Exercise judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives
  • Review and apply local codes and standards to construction documents
  • Review and apply proper structural design standards and guidelines (i.e. ASCE 7, AISC, etc..)
  • Perform field work at project sites both during design and through construction
  • Work under supervision of a project manager and structural engineer
  • Ability to work with multiple structural framing types.
  • Ability to coordinate and work with internal architectural resources and MEP consultants

M I N I M U M   R E Q U I R E M E N T S :

  • High School Diploma required
  • Minimum 5 years experience working as a Structural Designer under direct supervision of a Professional Structural Engineer
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and ability to produce construction drawings and documents with minimal oversight for review by a licensed professional structural engineer
  • Ability to work independently, with minimal to moderate oversight from a licensed professional structural engineer

This position is offered to a talented and highly motivated individual who specializes in Mechanical Design and can assist in the planning and designing of mechanical HVAC and piping systems for commercial and industrial building projects. Must be a synergistic team player and an invaluable resource for WMB’s architects, designers, and clients. We aspire to provide a challenging and inspiring work environment for such a candidate in a position that will require detailed, project-specific designs.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • The ability to take mechanical projects from inception through project closeout. This will include planning and executing the design and construction phases of the projects.
  • The ability to make decisions independently on engineering problems and methods, and represent the company in meetings to resolve important questions and to plan and coordinate work.
  • Preparing reports, specifications, and drawings.
  • Researching discipline-related code issues and present interpretations.
  • Visiting construction sites to review, monitor, and report progress.
  • Performing other construction administration duties such as shop drawing review, answering RFI’s, preparing supplemental instructions and proposal requests, writing status reports, etc.
  • Assisting in supervising, coordinating and checking the work of, as well as instructing, leading and mentoring Mechanical Engineer Levels I, II, and III, and Designers and Drafters.
  • Providing coordination of all applicable project discipline’s drawings and specifications.
  • Assisting in client contact and communication pertaining to specific projects.
  • Promoting communication, cooperation and quality among staff.
  • Promoting and representing the firm in a professional manner.

M I N I M U M   R E Q U I R E M E N T S :

  • Minimum of Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university,
  • Experience with applicable Florida Building Code, ASHRAE, ASME Codes and other relevant to mechanical design and engineering.
  • Experience with commercial, industrial and healthcare facility HVAC and mechanical design and engineering
  • Minimum 6 years experience working as a Mechanical Designer under direct supervision of a Professional Mechanical Engineer
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and ability to produce construction drawings and documents with minimal oversight for review by a licensed professional civil engineer
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Powerpoint)

  • An active Florida PE license is mandatory.
